Welcome to the Wild Sunflower Wellness blog
written by Leanne, Morton, LPC, ATR, licensed mental health therapist, registered art therapist, and mother of two.
Think of this as a cozy little nook just for you — a place to explore the tender, complex, and deeply human experience of motherhood and womanhood. I share reflections on art therapy, holistic well-being, spirituality, and navigating motherhood in today’s world.
My hope is that something here makes you feel a little less alone, a little more seen, and maybe even inspired to take one small, nurturing step toward yourself today.
The Sacred Practice of Slowing Down in Motherhood: Lessons from an Art Therapist in Denver
When I became a first-time mom in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, I felt untethered, isolated, and overwhelmed. It wasn’t until I began slowing down—returning to art, presence, and in-person community—that I found my way home to myself. For me, slowing down became a sacred practice: a way to reconnect mind, body, and spirit. As an art therapist in Denver, I’ve seen how this practice can open space for healing, creativity, and deeper connection.
