Meet Leanne Morton of Wild Sunflower Wellness | Featured in Voyage Denver

Every once in a while, you get to tell your own story — in your own words. This feature with Voyage Denver was one of those moments.

I shared the origin of my work: a little girl who experienced profound loss at nine years old, who found her way through it not with words, but with art. That thread has woven itself through everything — my adolescence, my hardest life transitions, and eventually, the transformation that came with becoming a mother.

Art-making remained my lifeline as I navigated traumatic events and difficult life transitions throughout my adolescence and adulthood.
— Leanne Morton, LPC, ATR

Because even after years of practice as an Art Therapist, motherhood still knocked me sideways. It wasn't what I had expected. And it certainly wasn't what I had seen portrayed.

That experience became the heartbeat of Wild Sunflower Wellness. It's why I do this work. Not just as a clinician, but as someone who has lived it.

In this feature, I talked about:

  • How art became my first therapy long before it became my career

  • What Wild Sunflower Wellness is and who it's for

  • My approach to healing — warm, grounded, relational, and creative

  • How I've learned to become the artist of my own life again
